Impacts on the SAT

If you were previously registered to take the ACT but your test date was cancelled due to COVID-19, review the following information you need in order to reschedule:

  • The new testing dates are August 29, September 26, October 3, November 7, and December 6. If there is a large enough demand, an additional testing date will be added in January.
  • It is free to transfer your registration to another test date.
  • If you prefer to cancel entirely, you will be fully refunded.

If the test center you are registered for closes, College Board will send you an email notification, and you will have to reschedule.

Below are the guidelines you’ll need to follow on test day:

  • Masks are required to be worn.
  • Seats must be six feet apart to adhere by social distancing guidelines.
  • Each student must pass a safety screening before being allowed to enter the testing center.

Impacts on the ACT

If you were previously registered to take the ACT but your test date was cancelled due to COVID-19, review the following information you need in order to reschedule:

  • Check the email you used to register for the test for instructions on rescheduling through your student web account.
  • It is free to reschedule. You will be charged a registration fee, but your old registration will be refunded.
  • Test dates for the 2020 – 2021 school year are September 12, 13, 19, and October 10, 17, 24, and 25.

If you are new to registration, you’ll have to pay the registration fee.

Below are the guidelines you’ll need to follow on test day:

  • Social distancing is required.
  • You will NOT be provided a mask. However, you are highly encouraged to wear one to the exam.
  • You will complete a wellness screening during check-in to assess for COVID-19.

The SAT, ACT, & College Admissions

With the coronavirus having such a severe impact on the SAT and ACT, colleges are being flexible with students in terms of admissions. Since there has been a high influx of students trying to reschedule their test dates, it can be difficult to secure a spot in time to submit results to the college of your choice. That said, many schools are extending the deadline to submit test scores, and some are even allowing submissions after the stated deadline. Be sure to check college websites to learn what they are doing to accommodate potential students during this time.
